So Very Thankful

I am thankful for small mercies. I compared notes with one of my friends who expects everything of the universe, and is disappoint ed when anything is less than best, and I found that I begin at the other extreme, expecting nothing, and am always full of thanks for moderate goods. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Life is hard.

There are days we wonder how we’ll ever get through.

There are moments we are certain we can’t overcome.

But just when we think we’ve reached our breaking point, we far surpass any limits we thought we had and we wonder why we ever doubted ourselves.

Too often we focus on all the things we didn’t get done, or the accomplishments we didn’t achieve that we forget to focus on those things that matter – like our health, our freedom, and our families. This past week I have been reminded once again how precious life is, and how quickly it can be taken away. Today I am making a choice to not only be thankful for the things I have, but to stop and appreciate them as well. I will not focus on the things I have not yet done, but rather take pride in those things I have accomplished so far. I will not take for granted my food, my home, my power, my health, my spouse or my precious children. I will give thanks for those things and so many more – because I am so very, very, very grateful for all that I have.

Happy Thanksgiving
